Accounting Manager

Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join their banking institution's Finance Department. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of their financial records. As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, manage a team of accountants, and collaborate with various departments to support the financial health of the bank.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to management and regulatory authorities.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic reviews to identify and rectify discrepancies or errors.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Stay current with accounting regulations and ensure the bank's accounting practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Interface with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage the annual budget, providing insights and analysis to support strategic financial decisions.
- Assist in financial forecasting and planning to ensure the bank's fiscal health.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting function, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Continuously evaluate and update accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the banking or financial services industry.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Compensation:
- $85,000 - $95,000 dependent on education and experience.
