Job Description:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for new customer acquisition, onboarding support, and the growth of assigned existing customers.
Job Duties:
- Work with a select group of sales leadership, operations, information technology, transportation, marketing, and finance team members to create competitive and develop value adding solutions, products, and services that support our strategy and core capabilities.
- Provide marketing with new customer acquisition targets to develop messaging and nurturing support.
- Create campaigns to directly connect with prospective customers.
- Attend tradeshows as directed by the VP Sales & Marketing
- Join and actively participate in trade and local chamber of commerce organizations.
- Maintain an active pipeline in accordance with goals set by the VP Sales & Marketing. Manage and keep the pipeline up to date with accurate information.
- Develop winning responses and presentations to support bids.
- Provide sales and executive leadership with reasons for why we win and why we lose opportunities and adjust our approach as required.
- Achieve targeted win values as set by leadership on an annual basis.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in business/marketing/sales or logistics or 3 years equivalent sales experience preferred.
- Knowledge of global supply chain management a plus.
- Contract Logistics and Transportation Management operations experience a plus.
- Demonstrates professionalism with excellent executive communication skills.
- High energy, and a dynamic leader.
- Demonstrates effective collaboration across all levels and functions of the organization.
- Thinks and acts strategically with a working knowledge of short-, medium- and long-term company goals.
Incentive Plan:
- The Director of Business Development will participate in the corporate sales commission plan.
Goals of the position - The main goal is to contribute to the overall growth of the company through new customer acquisition, development, and retention.
