Digitizing Intern
With over 120 years of manufacturing high-end, collector-quality, American-made furniture, and nearly as many years as a furniture retailer, L & J G Stickley, Inc., is the proud employer of almost 900 talented individuals. We have three manufacturing facilities and thirteen Showrooms. As part of our Summer Internship Program, we are seeking a Digitizing Intern at HP Upholstery Factory.
General Description/Purpose :
The Digitizing Intern-Operator will provide a high level of service to ensure employee, customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. The Digitizing Operator does this by operating a digitizing machine to make electronic copies of fabric and leather furniture patterns. The Digitizing Operator completes these functions in the manufacture of furniture parts and pieces.
Job Responsibilities:
- Pull plastic leather patterns and cardboard fabric patterns down from racks
- Trace patterns pieces on an electronic drafting table (digitizer) that is sent to the PC to be saved electronically
- Edit and modify patterns as needed using the pattern-making program
- Group similar patterns in a model in the program and save work once pattern is digitized
- Ability to use tools to verify patterns including but not limited to a tape measure, pencil
- Ability to operate a computer mouse and move the mouse around the pattern pieces exactly and accurately
- Must possess computer aptitude and ability to learn the pattern-making program
- Some data entry and other tasks as assigned
Required Education :
- Educational course work in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Essential Knowledge, Skills
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and knowledge of weights and measure, utilize measuring tools such as tape measures and other measuring devices to sufficiently handle job tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and have ability to prioritize
- Strong computer skills (proficient with Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
