Are you excited about biology research, and would like to join a team doing cutting edge work on the fundamental biology of the causative agent of a major human disease?
The Wang Lab is hiring a Research Technician II. This position is identified to support a research laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology. The Research Technician II (RTII) will join the research team led by Dr. Boyuan Wang studying how starvation response in bacteria triggers antibiotic persistence. The Wang Lab uses functional proteomics and metabolomics to identify non-covalent interactions that allow (p)ppGpp, the starvation-induced second messenger, to control multiple cellular processes.
The RTII will be under the supervision of Dr. Wang and be expected to conduct experiments and tests in the field of molecular biology, protein biochemistry and microbiology. This will include preparing biological and chemical reagents, making measurements and recording data, which will be used in reports and publications. The RTII will additionally assist with lab organization including safety compliance, waste disposal, training new members, consumables ordering, equipment maintenance, as well as participating in regular laboratory meetings & events.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in chemistry or biochemistry and one year of research experience in research laboratories in a relevant field.
