Overview
Assists in managing delinquency and collection process for Commercial Fleet Leasing. To manage collections for a variety of leasing products by working directly with lessee's or their agents to identify repayment terms, lease modifications with accountability for collection activities related to delinquent and past due accounts. Adheres to the highest industry standards, regulations, and rules in collection activities.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Monitors system data to identify delinquent and/or default situations. Sends the delinquency reports to the collections staff with instructions. - Assists in reviewing rejected invoices and sends to collection staff to research, resolve and determine next steps in partnership with the sales team, lease operations group, and end-use lessee(s). Provides advice, guidance, and
direction to staff. - Follows up on delinquent lease contracts, understands the client situation and discusses the best solution for both the Lessee and the company to minimize losses.
- Responds to customer inquiries in accordance with departmental standards.
- Performs collections of all delinquent lease accounts from 30 to 120 days past due.
- Negotiates payment plans with Lessee(s) which includes follow up to ensure adherence to the agreed payment
schedule. - Records collection activities, including number of contacts, payment commitments, and related information.
- Develops close working relationships within the Leasing department including Management, Sales and Operation
Teams to ensure open communication channels to resolve issues and problems efficiently and effectively. - Assists in legal issues associated with each delinquency working with legal counsel on negotiation, bankruptcies, and settlements.
- Assists in managing the repossession of assets authorized. Works closely with the team to liquidate assets.
- Prepares and presents collateral analysis of repossessions including current value, net investment, to-date costs,
payment remaining receivable, anticipated liquidation value, and other statistics. - Generates monthly and quarterly standard and ad hoc reports of leasing delinquencies, repossessions, non-accrual and charge off for leadership.
- Keeps abreast of changes in federal and state collection regulations to ensure adherence to laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- 7-10 years of collections experience.
- At least 3 years of management experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of the bankruptcy process and associated laws.
- Thorough understanding of federal and state collection regulations.
- Thorough understanding of lease and payment collection processes.
- Ability to read and understand financial documents, tax returns, credit bureau reports, lien searches, Lexis Nexis, legal documents, confession of judgement, complaints, etc.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team player, able to work in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
