What We Seek Under general direction, responsible for all phases of large-scale assigned process or manufacturing improvement projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost. Implements process improvements to meet quality standards, designs and conducts feasibility studies, and solves problems. Creates necessary documentation and aides in communication to personnel. May serve as a resource to other engineers and coordinate all work within the scope of assigned projects.
What You Will Do
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex automation systems, including cutting-edge technologies.
- Provide mentorship and direct supervision to I & II level engineers in areas of PLC programming, HMI design, SCADA systems, and other automation technologies.
- Ensure all automation systems comply with industry standards and regulations, and oversee quality assurance and lean manufacturing processes.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, making strategic decisions on automation projects and driving resolution of complex system-related issues.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, promoting the implementation of new technologies to improve automation systems.
- Lead three or more simultaneous projects.
- Use skills in process and LEAN to build project scopes so automation technology can improve factory processes and optimize KPI's
- Map existing factory processes, educate businesses on bottlenecks, propose and implement future states which align with business growth and investment goals
- Own responsibility for technical project leadership
- Be the project technical expert
- Lead junior engineers for technical problem solving as needed
- Use engineering skill and subject matter experts to deliver automation solutions
- Spearhead technology research to deliver state-of-the-art processes and designs
- Work across multiple facilities with separate stakeholder teams and processes.
- Work with project managers to set and manage goals, deliverables, and timelines
- Communicate project status to management
- Build payback models and assist in writing capital requests
- Use existing Marmon automation implementation process to guide your workflow
- Update and improve Marmon processes as you learn
- Mentor and guide others as required. Leadership opportunities available if desired.
- Attend trade shows and vendor visits to become a rounded industry expert on current state of the art technologies and implementation strategies
- Teach and mentor businesses to continue executing projects
Skills You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in an automation role.
- Expertise in PLC programming, SCADA Systems, HMI Design, and Robotics.
- Knowledge of Industrial IoT and Cybersecurity for Industrial Control Systems.
- Proficient in Industrial Automation Software like Siemens, Rockwell, etc.
- Exceptional problem-solving, leadership, and project management skills.
- Deep understanding of Industrial Processes, Quality Assurance, Lean Manufacturing, and Maintenance Procedures.
- Comfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclear
- Comfortable in factory environments
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of LEAN principles
- 50% travel, or as business demand
- Leadership skills

- Strong organizational skills
