ABOUT THE ROLE:
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Lowboy Driver to support operations in the asphalt product line throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. The incumbent will be responsible for Operating lowboy, flatbed, and occasionally dump trucks to deliver Paving and other heavy equipment and materials to various job sites throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. Also responsible for the safe transport of all equipment/materials, loading/unloading, and securing equipment to trailer. Also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and service ability of assigned vehicles.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Drives truck to deliver equipment and/or materials to and from specified locations
Positions chains, straps, and binders to secure load during transit
Load and unload equipment on lowboy trailers Strong work ethic and commitment to Safety and Quality
Good customer service and communication skills
Maintains a good attitude towards work
Maintains logs and records in compliance with DOT regulations
Maintains and checks truck, trailer, and supplies to ensure roadworthiness
Notifies Supervisor of needed/anticipated repairs and/or service of vehicle
Willingness to work any shift based on the needs of the job
Various other duties as assigned
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Class A CDL
Clean driving record
Must have 12 months of verifiable OTR tractor – trailer experience within the last 24 months or 2 years OTR experience within the last 5 years.
Preferably Tow Truck or Dump Truck Experience
Heavy Equipment Operation experience (2yrs experience minimum)
High attention to detail
Reliable transportation
Licenses Required: N/A, Preferred: OSHA 10, DOT, MEWP
Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills
Ability to work in different weather climates - Hot, Cold, Etc.
Meet physical requirements - bending, stooping, kneeling, lift/raise up to 50lbs from ground to higher levels, and manually push/pull up to 75lbs
Ability to lift 50lbs
Additional Requirements:
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
