General Information
Mountain Creek Baptist Church (Greenville, SC) is seeking to hire a full time Children’s Ministry Director to help us continue to partner with parents in growing our children to follow Jesus together with the church.
Our mission at Mountain Creek is to Magnify God Together as Maturing, Ministering, and Multiplying Followers of Jesus, and we believe the role of Children’s Ministry Director is crucial in that process for our church. The ideal candidate will be able to lead our Children’s Ministry in the following five key areas:
Intentionally Discipling Children
- Create a scope and sequence for Children’s Ministry at Mountain Creek that places an emphasis on biblical literacy and spiritual foundations.
- Create or select curriculum for our children’s Sunday classes that will complement the overall ministry goals.
- Create appropriate celebratory events for milestones in the lives of children, leveraging these events (Parent Commissioning/Baby Dedication; beginning school; baptism; etc.) to help solidify trust in Christ for children and families.
- Develop a means of following up with children who profess faith in Christ and are baptized to help them grow in Christ at an age-appropriate level.
- Work with Senior Pastor and other ministry leaders to ensure that there are opportunities for all generations at Mountain Creek to worship and serve together.
Partnering with Parents
- Develop channels of resources to assist parents to lead their homes in such a way that builds healthy families who are following Jesus together, helping us build a church that follows Jesus together.
- Maintain clear communication with parents about Children’s Ministry at Mountain Creek.
- Partner with other church staff to develop and implement a plan for ongoing parent equipping and encouragement.
- Work with the Senior Pastor to align, where possible, what children are learning with what adults are learning in the church.
- Assist in follow-up with first time guest families to help them connect to Mountain Creek.
Developing Leaders
- Recruit, onboard, and equip volunteers and interns for serving in Children’s Ministry at Mountain Creek.
- Oversee background checks and child safety training for all volunteers.
- Oversee directly (or work with volunteers for the oversight of) all Children’s Ministry community outreach events.
Cultivating the Right Environment
- Model a humble walk with Jesus that is pursing maturing, ministering, and multiplying as a follower of Jesus.
- Create a welcoming, engaging, safe, and fun environment where children both learn about Christ and desire to bring their friends to do the same.
- Build a strong sense of team unity among Children’s Ministry leaders and volunteers.
- Work with MCBC administrator and staff to promote Children’s Ministry to the community through social media and other means.
Partnering with Schools
- Lead the effort to partner with local elementary schools as an outreach ministry of the church.
- Mobilize members to encourage and support local school staff and homeschool families.
- Pray for and seek opportunities to leverage these relationships for gospel advancement.

Job Skills and Candidate Background
- Masters degree from SBC seminary is preferred but not required
- Minimum experience of 3 years working with Children’s Ministry is preferred; candidates with experience developing and implementing ministry plans are strongly desired
- Experience developing and leading teams is a strong plus
- Experience managing budget is needed
