The City of East Moline is currently taking applications for the position of police officer. Applicants will be required to pass a physical agility test, written exam and interview before the Fire and Police Commission. Qualifying candidates will be placed on a two-year eligibility list.

The East Moline Police Department has 37 sworn officers in addition to support staff that provide public safety to the 21,000 + residents of East Moline. The police department has several divisions, that include, Investigations, Crisis Containment Unit (SWAT), School Resource Officers, K-9, Community Oriented Policing, Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) and the Federal Gang Task Force.

Starting wage is $55,272 per year raising to $60,714 in year two plus full benefits including two weeks' vacation after one year and increasing with tenure.

These benefits will be payable to all employees classified as regular "full-time" at the time of their hiring as follows:

Immediate:

(a) Pension Participation

(b) Workman's Compensation

(c) Special leave (trade days)

(d) C.O.L.A., if applicable

(e) Comp-time

(f) Personal Days (prorated first year)

(g) Bereavement Leave

Thirty (30) Days :

(a)Health Insurance

Six (6) Months:

(a) Holiday Pay

(c) Sick Benefit Pay

One (1) year:

(a) Vacation per schedule

Eighteen (18) Months (Completion of Probationary Period):

(b) Educational Pay

Testing Date:

Saturday March 23, 2024 9:00 AM at East Moline Maintenance Building 1200 13th Av East Moline, IL. Physical Agility Test is first, Written exam to follow at 11:30 AM.

Physical Agility Test consists of bench press, sit-ups, sit and reach, and 1 1/2 mile run. Standards set based on age and gender. Wear appropriate clothing for physical activity and bring ID, there will be a break before the written exam to change if needed.
