Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for leading and building our accounts payable department. In this role, you will develop new policies and procedures, manage process improvement projects, and research and implement new payment processing technology and systems.

Candidates local to State College, PA or have the ability to be hybrid are being considered for this exciting opportunity.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Establishes and maintains accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations.
• Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time.
• Verify and process invoices, as well as issue payments.
• Upload checks to bank in support of Positive Pay requirements.
• Verify amounts against purchase orders or other documents.
• Research discrepancies or missing payments.
• Provides guidance and training to other members of the accounts payable staff.
• Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs.  
• Maintains the credit card program and ensures compliance with travel and entertainment policy.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related major is preferred.
• Self-driven; strong problem-solving skills; adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent collaboration, reporting, and analytical skills
• Strong knowledge of general ledger principles and experience overseeing monthly close activities
• Team-oriented mindset with a strong ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Must have a high degree of self-direction with the ability to constantly seek innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
• Financial Controls - The knowledge and application of business processes, internal control concepts and practices to ensure transparency and governance of data and financial results.
