Job Overview
Manages a team of procurement professionals in the acquisition of both direct and indirect materials necessary for the effective and optimum operation of the business. Leads the negotiation of pricing, lead times, and appropriate order quantities for these materials including major and minor capital equipment purchases for all relevant sites. Establishes performance metrics for the team and directs team members in the allocation of resources to assist the manufacturing sites, PLBT’s, corporate sourcing, finance, and other teams relative to direct and indirect material needs and services.
A Day In The Life
Develop and execute a purchasing strategy that supports the division’s overall market-driven business strategy related to raw materials, components, purchase for resale products, and services.
Drive rapid, significant, and sustainable improvement in on-time delivery, lead-time, and purchase pricing.
Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
Analyzes categories and develop strategies to secure cost decreases.
Lead regular strategy deployment & KPI reviews for the purchasing team ensuring attainment of results and a sense of urgency with respect to the strategic implementation priorities.
Periodically present plans and actual results, strategy deployment, and KPI progress. Take aggressive action to drive performance in the areas of purchase pricing, supply chain costs, and inventory levels.
Partner with functional leaders to coordinate supply chain functions with manufacturing, sales, marketing, design engineering, and other departments.
Establishes recommendations for supplier enhancement, termination, and new supplier development.
Take initiative to develop process improvements, simplify practices/workflows, and resolve problems.
Identify sources of supply, seek out the lowest total cost alternatives and develop solid working relationships with suppliers.
Ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials on a short lead-time basis while satisfying all quality criteria.
What will help you thrive in this role?
BS/BA in Supply Chain Management or Equivalent
7+ Years of sourcing/purchasing experience with 3+ Years management experience.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, & Outlook)
Solid experience with major MRP software/tools
Clear, energetic, and engaging presentation and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems quickly.
Ability to work with a team or independently and be a self-starter
Possesses strong communication skills, written and verbal
Willingness to travel as needed (approx. 25%)
Preferred Qualifications
Strong demonstrated SAP experience
APICS/ASCM Certification
MBA or Master's degree is a plus.
