Job Opportunity: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a NICU RN, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and compassionate care to critically ill neonatal patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
- Certifications: Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP-Advanced), and STABLE through American Heart Association (AHA), renewed biennially.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of qualifying experience in NICU.
- Licensure: Current, valid, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any U.S. jurisdiction.
Required Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of electronic fetal/uterine monitoring (placement, maintenance, and interpretation).
Job Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a diverse healthcare team.
- Perform critical care duties, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-specific nursing care across all ages.
- Provide comprehensive professional neonatal care to critically ill neonatal patients in the NICU.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Perform physical exams, health histories, and maintain accurate patient documentation.
- Patient Care:
- Administer medications, wound care, and other personalized interventions.
- Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
- Emergency Response:
- Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
- Serve as a member of the Neonatal Resuscitation Team, attending high-risk deliveries and initiating resuscitative measures.
- Education and Research:
- Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
- Conduct research to support improved practice and patient outcomes.
- Specialized Equipment:
- Set up and use specialized equipment such as ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and infusion pumps.
- Monitor IV fluids, blood, and blood products, taking corrective action as needed.
- Infant Care:
- Perform basic infant care procedures, lifting, turning, transporting, and positioning.
- Support breastfeeding mothers and instruct on neonatal care.
- Medication Administration:
- Mix and administer prescribed medication through various routes.
- Serve as a resource person for other critical care nurses and health providers.
Staffing and Scheduling:
- Work Schedule: 0700-1930, 1100-2330, and 1900-0730 for 12-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday, including weekends and holidays.
