Description JOB SUMMARY Responsible for operating company vehicles in a courteous and professional manner, following all Department of Transportation (DOT), local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Company policies and procedures to ensure the safe transport of Company and customer cargo, other Kane Company employees and the safety of the public while driving.

- Conducts vehicle inspections as required prior to leaving the facility and identifies maintenance defects to ensure the vehicle is in proper working order to ensure safe operations.
- Reports any maintenance defects or safety concerns to the supervisor before taking the vehicle on the road.
- Monitors all vehicle gauges and ensures that vehicle is regularly serviced as specified in Company standard operating procedures.
- Delivers and picks up cargo and Company equipment to and from customers within designated time frames, utilizing Company vehicles for Company business only.
- Maintains the stability of vehicle load throughout the day using appropriate materials to avoid accidental shifting to prevent damage to cargo.
- Picks up and unloads cargo at receiving location (warehouse or other customer location) safely, following Company policy and procedures with or without assistance as necessary and places it in customer location as directed, following all prescribed DOT, local, state, federal regulations, and Company safety procedures.
- Records delivery information on daily delivery record; maintains required manifest records and DOT logs accurately and within prescribed timeframes to ensure that all information is recorded following DOT, local, state, federal, and Company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Completes reports including truck inspection reports and delivery tickets as required by Company policies and standard operating procedures (includes verbal check-in with terminal Dispatcher.
- Adheres to all DOT, local, state, federal regulations, and Company policies and procedures, ensuring that vehicle and delivery equipment are operated in a safe and legal manner; reports any violations, accidents, illegal or unsafe circumstances or problems immediately to the proper Company representatives (Safety Director, Branch Manager, Dispatcher, or other Company representative as appropriate.)
- Fosters positive customer and co-worker relations to ensure an atmosphere of quality customer service and teamwork.
- Collects COD payments from customers as required and/or advises management if the collection is not available.
- Occasionally serves in the capacity of Move Supervisor as necessary, supervising the activities of the move crew and acting as a liaison between the customer and Business Unit.
- Responds to customer complaints, inquiries, and needs to ensure customer satisfaction as appropriate and/or forwards complaint issues to appropriate Business Unit management staff (i.e., Regional Operations Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Vice President of Operations, or Vice President of Moving Services).
- Maintains a neat, clean vehicle to ensure a professional image is conveyed to customers and the general public at all times.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times by wearing the required uniform and behaving in a manner that conveys a professional image to customers and the general public at all times.
- Complies with all Department of Transportation Hours of service requirements.
- Adheres to all workplace policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned within the scope of the job.

Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to two years of driving experience and/or training.
- Valid CDL Class B License. Tested for airbrakes and ability to drive a manual transmission. One year of driving experience required
- The ability to do pre trips on trucks regarding vehicle maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, manifests, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
