Job description

The Mental Health Associate provides care to the patients and maintains a safe environment under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Group and individual patient supervision, facilitation of educational group activities and assisting with ADL's (i.e., Feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulating, etc.). All methods of practice shall conform to written hospital policies and procedures and be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. The Mental Health Associate will demonstrate the Barnabas Health philosophy to Total Quality Management by actively applying that philosophy in all dealings with both internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Baccalaureate degree in psychology or related field or minimum of 5 years recent behavioral health experience required.

*Minimum one year experience, training, or education in the field of treatment preferred.

*Must possess excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.

*Experience as a nursing assistant or in a patient care setting helpful.

*Current BLS for Health Care Providers (CPR and AED) Program Certification, or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.

The Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center (with Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus Behavioral Health Services) constitutes a freestanding 100-bed acute care psychiatric facility which provides inpatient and intensive outpatient programs for adults and older adults diagnosed with psychiatric and dual disorders.
