The CT Technologist provides computerized assisted tomographic services to patients as ordered by physicians and follows established standards and practices under the direction of a Radiologist. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prioritizes patient care activities based on accurate patient information and staff capabilities.
Demonstrates knowledge of the specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies for the specific patient population of the department.
Utilizes restraint with appropriate justification and documentation with regard to patient safety.
Evaluates patient's response to the Plan of Care, communicates to members of the health care team and implements necessary changes to care.
Demonstrates awareness of responsibility and accountability for completion of assignments and delivery of safe, effective and appropriate care in a timely and accurate manner.
Reports patient safety issues/errors timely; demonstrates compliance with hospital patient safety initiatives and policies.
Conduct reflects "Putting Patients First" while performing job duties.
Demonstrates awareness and respect to the patient, family and/or significant other as an individual and family unit (identifies cultural and religious needs, language barriers, physical and psychological limitations and education limitations, etc.).
Serves as an advocate for patients, family and significant others in regards to decisions affecting the Plan of Care.
Verbalizes the process for resolution of ethical dilemmas in the facility.
Identifies and documents patient, family and significant other education needs in collaboration with other disciplines and implements initial and on-going education relevant to these needs.
Familiar with the safe operation requirements and assist with the orientation and education of staff within the environment.
Follow guidelines on storage, control, distribution, and administration of contrast media.
