Local candidates, Akron OH - 100% remote but will be asked to visit onsite monthly
Job description: Summary:
Coordinates and implements the installation and maintenance of database instances on multiple
platforms and networks. Provides monitoring and tuning of existing instances databases performs
upgrades and patches to the software and hardware as needed. Designs backup and recovery
strategies for database configuration and content. Collaborates in disaster recovery design and testing.
Maintains database security for all databases and participates in security auditing.
Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. Additional experience or database
certification may substitute for up to two years of the educational requirement.
Experience & Training Required:
a. Seven (7) years direct database experience in current versions of SQL Server and / or Oracle
databases with heavy emphasis on database architecture, analysis and tuning.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to design as well as maintain SQL and / or Oracle database environments.
b. Experience with Integration Services (SSIS) and Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS)
c. Experience with SQL Server Replication and Log Shipping.
d. Experience with 3rd Party database backup utilities.
e. Experience with Microsoft PowerShell for script automation.
f. Experience with Monitoring Tools such as SolarWinds or Spotlight for SQL server and/or Oracle.
g. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels in order to resolve database issues or
complete new projects in a timely manner.
h. Possesses knowledge of the technical aspects of the databases that are currently used and the
direction of the vendors for those databases
i. Possesses an inherent desire for keeping pace with technology and explaining that technology in
'layterms'
j. Ability to work within a team is as important as speaking up when necessary
k. Requires skill in analyzing problems and developing solutions
l. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their
needs for self-respect and dignity
