The Position

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is primarily located in our Flamingo DMV Office within the Motor Vehicle Information Technology Division, Desktop Support Unit. Duty location may change depending on staffing needs, travel between multiple DMV Locations may be required on a daily basis. The appointee will be required to carry out the following job duties: responsible for software/hardware installation, procedures, and inventory control of equipment; responsible for providing customer support in a timely and professional manner to all customers in a base 8-hour work shift. The position requires the timely completion of tasks, including planning and communication with all entities involved. This position requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of dealing with WAN/LAN technology and requires demonstrable technical abilities with Windows 10 desktop operating systems. The incumbent must be able to maintain PCs, printers, scanners, and be able to communicate effectively with management and the EITS WAN Group. Responsible for all areas of system security in accordance with written procedures. Ideal applicants will have a keen eye for detail and experience in the following areas are preferred: Cisco VPN, SolarWinds ticketing and asset management software, bar code scanners, WDS, PXE, and general IT equipment installation and troubleshooting. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Qualifications

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements This position is subject to call-out or call-back. Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
