Position Description

Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the Biogeochemistry of Global Contaminants Group at Harvard University ( One position will focus on the biogeochemistry of mercury using mercury stable isotope measurements. The second position will involve research on analytical method development for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Both positions may also provide opportunities for field sampling and time at sea. Regular interactions and collaborations with group members and students can be expected.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry or a related discipline.

Additional Qualifications

For the first position, extensive experience analyzing stable mercury isotopes using a Neptune MC-ICP-MS is a requirement. Candidate should also be familiar with speciated mercury measurements. For the second position, extensive analytical experience with organic contaminants is a requirement. Training on specific methodologies used to measure PFAS will be provided. Experience with non-targeted, high resolution mass spectrometry methods would be an asset. Instruments used in the lab include an Agilent 6460 LC-MS/MS, Metrohm CIC, and Agilent 6460 LC-MS/MS.
