The Washington Spirit is looking for a Project Manager to join their business operations. As Project Manager, you will prepare project plans, prioritize tasks and resources in order to achieve project objectives and ensure adequate communication is maintained regarding project status and priorities. You will lead projects across the functions of the business operations team, including: partnerships, ticketing, marketing, communications, and community.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will need to exhibit leadership skills at the highest levels and in a wide variety of contexts. This position requires the ability to understand, explain and present complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels up to the highest in a persuasive and convincing manner.
The Business Operations Project Manager will:
- Manages a variety of projects simultaneously. Responsible for preparing project plans, prioritizing tasks and resources in order to achieve project objectives and ensure adequate communication is maintained regarding project status and priorities. In addition, facilitating team meetings.
- Support the management team in maintaining a high level of awareness of project issues, risks, project status and critical path deliverables within the overall project schedule and to define requirements, establish project objectives, and define process achievements. Anticipate issues and act proactively to address potential issues.
- Gather and update project materials, project documentation, business flows, and lessons learned documents.
- Remains knowledgeable of innovative business technology and company business operations
- As required, develops and oversees the documentation of systems and project deliverables.
- Using good judgment and skill to develop a project management approach that is suitable for planning and managing the effort to achieve the project goals within designated project constraints in situations that require a hybrid Agile approach.
- Assisting and advising leaders, managers, and teams to the best use of project management disciplines and approaches.
- Maintaining processes to ensure project management documentation, reports and plans are relevant, accurate and complete
- Assisting in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members
Our ideal candidate has:
- 5+ years experience in project management or operations, preferably on a revenue team
- Preferred experience working for a sports and/or entertainment organization
- Proven experience working with project management methodologies (including agile project management)
- Able to lead organizational effectiveness and lead multiple cross-functional teams through project management principles
- Understanding of revenue and front office operations (marketing, communications, community impact, community/grass roots marketing)
- Astute business planner with process-driven mindset and attention to detail

Location: This role is primarily based at our Falls Church, VA office, with occasional work in Washington, D.C. Our front office team follows a hybrid arrangement, requiring presence in the office 3 days a week.
