JOB TITLE: Team Manager
REPORTS TO: Store General Manager, Regional Manager and CEO
LOCATION : Friendly Pets - Lee NH
COMMITMENT: 40 hours per week on site
SUMMARY: The Team Manager is a leader in the store. The TM executes all decisions all directives given, and is responsible for the growth of all employees within the store. The TM should continually be thinking of a succession plan for all positions as well as working with the support team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years of retail management experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong Interpersonal communication skills
- Team Management and Leadership skills
- Experienced with creating a team schedule
- Knowledge of State and Local employment laws
- Capable of working independently and delegating tasks to accomplish company initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Established Employees:
- Observe where people need additional training/ help
- Give the employees opportunities to work on their development areas with guidance (less hands on then a new hire)
- Actively works with associate managers to develop and further their training, and communicates any strengths, deficiencies, or areas of concern to the store manager.
- Actively assessing and growing all employees continually and taking necessary steps to ensure development
Operational
- Being able to give training confirmations, verbal and written warnings. Holding employees accountable.
- Filling out and submitting petty cash
- Daily/ Weekly Deposits
- Knowing when to use or not to use petty cash
- Placing and checking in orders of all sizes
- Being able to prioritize and them re-prioritize according to the day
- Maintain an open line of communication with all staff members, Operations Team, vendors and sales reps
- Working with the GM to coordinate event planning for the store, including working with CEO and Company Operations Manager and actively seeking opportunities for expanded outreach
- Overseeing Animal Care
Inventory
- Knows how to handle items that do not scan or any issues pertaining to inventory in a timely fashion
- Report inventory issues and discrepancies to Company Inventory & Operations Manager (CIOM)
- Should notice when stock is getting low so that an order may be placed
- Work with CIOM to establish proper min/max
- Notifies CIOM of items that are not moving out of the store and helps make arrangements to move them out
- Work with CIOM to resolve
- Knows how to and does perform regular inventory and cycle counts with attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- TM should be a confident leader taking, charge and checking on all projects
- Lead by example, initiate projects, working side by side with team members.
- Knowledgeable, strong but approachable for ALL employees questions/concerns/thoughts
- Morale booster and team builder = asking staff' opinions, involving them in decisions as much as possible
- Giving employees opportunities to try new things= by using delegation as training tool
- Handling sticky situations (includes but not limited to):
- employees calling out
- freezer/equipment break down
- upset or unruly customers
- giving bad news in a considerate/ tactful way to both customers and employees
- presenting a calm composure, remaining level headed so staff doesn't panic
- Employee promotions and terminations
