Job description
The Telecommunications Technician will install, configure, provision, test, integrate, and repair telecommunication network systems and components in support of our customer and the government's mission.
*This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance.*
- Assist with cable assembly, sweeping, and signal cable checks.
- Generate documents for wire run lists, rack profiles, and wiring diagrams.
- Assist with equipment rack integration.
- Assist with setup, testing, and integration of VSAT systems.
- Troubleshoot basic IP networks.
- Assist with the operation, maintenance, provisioning, and installation of telecommunications equipment, including, video, and telephone core switching devices, peripheral devices, and PBXs.
- Provision, install, configure, test, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment, including landline, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, LTE soft switch, SDH, ATM, routers, switches, and network management systems.
- Assist with the installation and set-up interconnectivity between systems and subsystems with assistance.
- Install, configure, and setup large-scale network equipment with assistance.
- Assist with the integration and/or system level testing of telecommunications systems or platforms.
- Analyze network configurations for performance and problems.
- Perform integration and system level testing.
- Configure telecommunication and network systems.
- Provide the configuration details and configure laboratory equipment.
- U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government issued TS/SCI clearance and the ability to maintain this level clearance.
- 14 years of experience providing technical support to the engineering and testing of complex software/hardware systems in the communications arena; or 12 years of experience combined with an Associate’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline.
- High School diploma or GED.
- CCNA or equivalent certification.
- Hands-on experience with the installation, provisioning, maintenance, operation, and testing of five or more of the following equipment types: voice over IP, line of sight microwave, routers, switches Network Management Systems, satellite modems, solid state power amplifiers, low noise block converters.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory configuration and interconnectivity.
- Hands-on experience with network planning for telecommunications switches.
- Working knowledge of signaling protocols and TCP/IP protocol.
- Working knowledge of satellite communications equipment and systems.
- Experience with telecommunications and network analysis, performance, and communications tools (for example: HP, W&G, Tekelec, Fireberd, and Nethawk).
- Experience with conducting integration and system level testing of telecommunications systems or platforms.
