What You'll Do: - Contribute to developing and executing a broad strategy to grow the Civil Space business and market share.
- Support the Civil Space (CS) Director of Business Development (BD) as a deputy decision maker. This includes approval authority for Life Cycle Gated Milestones (LCGMs) at a designated level, supporting CS BD staff, running staff meetings at various levels, and developing and maintaining processes and documentation for the CS BD teams.
- Oversee the Capture Managers working Civil Space pursuits including their training, tools development, and strategy development.
- Functionally manage several members of the CS BD capture staff in support of our business goals and strategy.
- Work closely with Civil Space business unit leadership to align activities with broader business needs and focus on expert collaboration to support success.
- Manage internal budgets & contribute to establishing bookings plans.
- Develop and communicate messages, marketing, competition assessments, and customer insights based on our core values of integrity, honesty, transparency, and collaboration.
- Lead development of new tools for capture management.
- Create diverse and inclusive teams for capture activities; inspire teams to go beyond for customers and win business.
- Ensure all business is conducted with the highest ethical standards.
- Support across science, operational and commercial focus areas.
- Maintain interfaces with programs in execution and communicate assumptions and plans made during proposal phase to management.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule in the Boulder office at least Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with Monday and Friday preferred in the Boulder office.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience and success running pursuits from a capture perspective.
- Deep knowledge of NASA Announcement of Opportunity (AO) process and generic Request for Proposal (RFP) process including Request for Information and Request for Offer.
- Experience working on science mission formulation.
- Extensive technical and business experience with cost development for space hardware and presenting cost to senior management.
- Collaborative and inclusive style and ability to work with diverse colleagues, including those working in other geographical areas.
- Highest standard of business ethics.
- Demonstrated excellence in leadership of teams and experience leading without authority
- Superb communication skills with documented presentation experience to large and small teams, organizational leadership, and customers.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Experience in industry preferred.
- Experience managing process and documentation preferred.
- Experience working in civil space in a very large aerospace company preferred.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $162000 - $223000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
