Job description

Job Title: Tower Technician I


Location: Arkansas


Summary:

The Tower Technician I is responsible for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment on various structures, including towers, rooftops, and grain silos. The position requires a working knowledge of microwave equipment, the ability to troubleshoot and fix connectors and antenna systems, and familiarity with PIM gear and PIM troubleshooting. The Tower Technician I must be a certified tower climber who can travel within a designated region.

Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot alarms/RSSI issues at sites using supplied sweep gear

- Perform electrical down tilts and mechanical down tilts to a variety of antennas using supplied antenna controller units

- Run jumpers as needed to complete ongoing scopes of work

- Devise jumper connections with knowledge from connector training

- Complete required equipment and supply paperwork

- Climb communications structures, including guyed, self-supporting monopoles, building/rooftops, grain silos, etc.

- Perform audits for safety, defects, and quality

- Follow daily instructions and complete required paperwork and printouts

Requirements:

- Must be a certified tower climber via Gravitec Systems, Inc. or ComTrain

- Rescue certification

- Working knowledge of microwave equipment

- Ability to troubleshoot and fix connectors and antenna systems

- Ability to install coaxial cable on towers, rooftops, or any structure

- UMTS experience

- Experience in completing full grounding installations, tower demolition, tower stripping, and painting (erect and horizontal)

- Knowledge of standard knots

- Ability to lead lower-level employees and work closely with others

- Familiarity with Anritsu certification and TMO experience

- Past Verizon experience or RTWP experience a plus

- BYOD policy-compliant cell phone

Physical Demands:

- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds

- Ability to talk, listen, sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and crawl

- Ability to climb and crawl in ladder racking if necessary

- Ability to work in confined spaces

- Ability to endure harsh weather including but not limited to hot, cold, rain, and snow

- Ability to see the full color spectrum in order to identify cable color code

- Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control

- Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety

- Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace

- Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment

Certificates, Licenses, Registration, and Requirements:

- Travel within a designated region is required

- Anritsu and/or OSHA certification a plus
