Job Description:

Assistant Director of Financial Aid Operations

Non-Unit Professional position, 37.5 hours/week

Campus Location: Lynn/Danvers campus, 4 days on site, 1 day remote (telework is subject to change based on the needs of the department and/or College)

SALARY: Anticipated salary range $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 plus fringe benefits. Actual salary is commensurate with experience and education. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This leadership role joins the Director of Financial Aid, the Executive Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management, the Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment, and the Manager of Student Accounts, as a key leader in Enrollment Services. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid in Enrollment Services, the AD assists the Director of Financial Aid with the leadership and overall management of financial aid programs and the coordination of all available budget, personnel, and technical resources within the financial aid department, across our three campuses: Centro Hub (Virtual), Danvers and Lynn. Helps with the development and implementation of financial aid policies and compliance for all federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to financial aid. This individual will make data driven decisions that help the College increase FAFSA completion and assists with the oversight of the implementation of a robust Financial Literacy Program that supports culturally responsive practices and a comprehensive array of wraparound support services designed to enhance student success.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills, be innovative, decisive and empower the financial aid team to create, build and sustain meaningful and trusting relationships with the students we serve.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. With the Director of Financial Aid, and the Coordinator of Compliance, formulate, implement, review and evaluate policies, procedures and standards to ensure departmental compliance with Financial Aid guidelines and objectives.
  2. Manages the reconciliation, reporting, and operation of the Federal Direct Student Loan Program and the Pell Program, in accordance with college policies and procedures, utilizing Common Origination & Disbursement and Banner SIS
  3. Processes the disbursement and recovery of all financial aid funds, and assists in monthly and yearly reconciliation.
  4. Acts as secondary destination point administrator.
  5. Directly supervises Financial Aid Counselors who process the following programs.:
    • Verification, Return of Title IV, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and Program Management (State), among others
  6. Co-leads the yearly updates to Banner for the Financial Aid Suite
  7. In the absence of the Director of Financial Aid, provides leadership for the Financial Aid team.
  8. Assists with the preparation and submission of appropriate applications and reports for the continued funding of federal and MA state financial aid programs; supervises reconciliation of financial aid account balances with the Fiscal Affairs Office, the Federal Department of Education (DOE) and the MA Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA).
  9. Acts as campus authority on financial aid programs and provides information on financial aid to the college community. Prepares and updates financial aid publications and other financial aid-related consumer information. Advises institutional leadership on financial aid matters.
  10. Advises the academic administration on financial aid-related matters pertaining to the development of new programs of study, modules and parts of term.
  11. Serve on, or lead, committees appropriate to job functions, including college governance.
  12. Works in conjunction with the Admissions Office and other offices on student recruitment and retention as it relates to the financial aid process. This includes participating in events on and off campus.
  13. May need to assist with file review and special condition requests on a as needed basis.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
