Responsibilities This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite.
Summary:
Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
- Develop specific calibrations and tests.
- Document results in accordance with the specification.
- Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
- Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
- Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
- Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area by evaluating and selecting solutions from established operating procedures and/or analytical/scientific methods
- Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
For Mesquite Operations: This will be for Second Shift Position.
Qualifications Education:
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree
- Equivalent Combination of Relevent Education & Experience
- Preferred: Associate's Degree, Science Degree in NDT or equivalent training and experience
- 3-5 years prior experience in a similar position
Additional Certifications:
- State issued industrial ultrasonic certificate - Ability to achieve Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements
Preferred:
- Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
