About the Role & Program
ABC Studios Business Affairs Department negotiates and drafts agreements for above-the-line talent (producers, writers, directors, actors and casting directors) for network and cable television programs and provides support for the series and ancillary activities. Intern will be reporting to SVP, Business Affairs & Legal Counsel.
What You Will Do
We are seeking hard-working individuals who have a passion for entertainment law, negotiation theory, and the television business. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in an encouraging and creative environment!
As an intern, you’ll be involved in a variety of exciting projects that will challenge and develop your skillsets. Projects/work to include drafting deal memos and short form agreements along with playing the role of an information hub by distributing negotiation updates, closed deals, and signed agreements between different departments.
Required Qualifications & Skills
While prior experience in media/entertainment is a plus, it’s not a deal-breaker. Here are the basic qualifications we’re looking for:
Strong interest in entertainment law, the television business, and/or negation theory/strategy (relevant coursework is a bonus)
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a must and familiarity with OneNote is helpful
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Proven track record to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure
A detailed-oriented approach, even when processing a large volume of documents
Preferred Qualifications
Completed classes in copyright, entertainment, or and intellectual property areas
Education
Must be enrolled in an accredited law school taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program
Completion of one or more years of law school in a current JD program at the start of the internship
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
The approximate dates of this internship are May 2024 through August 2024
Able to work 40 hrs per week, Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm PST
Must have reliable transportation to/from work
Must provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Burbank, CA area
