SUMMARY
The Strategic Buyer will be responsible for the strategic and tactical procurement of goods and services through research, sourcing, negotiating, with suppliers in accordance with policies and procedures in support of company policies, goals, and objectives. Implementing and administering long term supply agreements for certain commodity areas may also be required. The Buyer will perform all duties associated with Purchase Order creation, maintenance and management for corporat e goods and services requirements in the Oracle R12 ERP system. Additional key responsibilities will include participating in cross-functional teams, researching best commodity practices, achieving cost reduction initiatives and executing sourcing strategies.
The Buyer will perform all required duties in compliance wi th company policies and procedures, U.S. Food and Drug Administration and DOT/IATA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and other applicable agencies.
This role will report to the Procurement Manager .

ESSENTIAL DUT IES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.
Responsible for purchase order entry in the ERP system, placing orders with suppliers, and working with suppliers to ensure on-time receipts.
Develop, update, and implement effective sourcing strategies to ensure a continuous supply of quality, competitively priced goods and services.
Works to establish best, total cost solutions. May coordinate and negotiate corporate contracts for assigned commodities or sourcing projects with the expectation of providing purchase price reductions and establishing purchase pricing.
Negotiate supply agreements for key goods and services to reduce total cost and improve delivery and quality.
Actively partner with key internal stakeholders to develop and action cost reduction. Determine and implement improvements to the tactical procurement process.
Participate in the evaluation and measurement of supplier quality, supplier on-time delivery, and total cost reduction for key goods and services.
Work in collaboration with internal customers to resolve supplier issues.
Ability to interface with company and supplier senior management.
Communicate with suppliers and Accounts Payable through the PO and payment process to resolve issues when necessary.
Maintain ongoing communications with suppliers and keep current on the integrity and financial health of our suppliers.
Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of key metrics and measurables. Review, analyze and interpret various reports.
Ensure all duties are SOX compliant.
Perform other related duties as required.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Operations Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or other related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Procurement. Preference will be given to those with experience in regulated industry, including the medical device, pharma, aerospace, automotive or defense.
Excellent organization and prioritization skills
Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills; ability to display sound judgement
Computer Literacy
Demonstrated knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and other National and International regulations and standards.
APICS certification a plus
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication skills, both oral, written and electronic form
Negotiation, facilitation, and analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be punctual, reliable, and efficient
Must be very detail oriented and organized, able to multi-task
Knowledge and experience working with MRO/ERP systems, Oracle R12 is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially excel; must be able to create and maintain spreadsheets.
Must demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of quality systems requirements (QSR) and good manufacturing practices (GMP)
Understanding of contracts (supply, services, etc)
