We are currently looking to add a qualified Sales Engineer to our growing team! Under the direction of the Director of Sales, this position will be responsible for developing analytical sketches, CAD models and drawings, sales drawings, and renderings of specific product offerings. This person will also support the sales force in the presentation of product design concepts by identifying customer requests by taking into consideration product design criteria. He/she will be responsible for determining the most cost-effective design and manufacturing techniques suited for Marmon Retail Solutions as the basic requirements on all products. This person will help manage samples and assist with new unit costing as needed.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The nature of the challenges and problems encountered in this position includes:
- Developing and managing specific customer product design criteria and implementation of the most cost-effective processes, (i.e. construction criteria, finish specifications, load capacities, material specification such as tubing size, etc.)
- Develop accurate data for sales associates in the presentation to potential customers as selling features and/or enhancements to existing product lines. An example would be to make comparisons of similar items sold to numerous customers that could possibly be consolidated into as few as one product component.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- New product implementation with primary focus on feasibility, creativity, and structural make up of products.
- Prepare and implement cost saving measures through value analysis/engineering of common products offered to more than one customer (i.e. commonality of part components, etc.)
- Support the sales efforts by providing on-site detail information gathering and customer specification implementation on major projects.
- To successfully implement sales engineering presentations that will support the sales representative’s efforts in regard to customer needs or desires specifically suited for MRS manufacturing processes.
- Creative design in developing solutions to customer merchandising problems. This is accomplished by translating customer’s ideas from concept to design specification and analysis and approval of all product samplings.
- Participate in face to face and online meetings directly with customer.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to effectively articulate and design from complex conceptual ideas from others. This includes the ability to effectively analyze, develop, and then present information to groups and/or individuals at varying organizational levels within and external to the organization.
- Effective interpersonal skills used in active listening, persuasion, leadership, team project processing, and objective attainment.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to articulate engineering concepts in acting as liaison between sales associates, engineering, and the customer.
- Mental ability to research and analyze special, advanced, conceptual, and analytical information.
- Effective understanding of hardware/software tools necessary to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to travel outside of normal workplace via plane, train, or automobile by day or night.
- Must be able to assist in the setup and tear down of samples and test stores.
- Must be fluent with SolidWorks and familiar with sheet metal operations within the program.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
This position will require a minimum of a B.S. degree in a related engineering field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar industry.
