Job description

As our Credit Assistant , you will be responsible for performing the gathering of credit data for establishing credit lines and open terms for non-individual accounts across all established Oriental Trading Company business units and subsidiary.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews new credit applications to ensure the integrity of customer information regarding name, and address
  2. Contacts customer for additional information as necessary to ensure sufficient data is available for establishing the requested credit line
  3. Checks the Company database to ensure new applicant is not established within the system
  4. Gathers credit data through various credit-reporting agencies, contacts credit references or bank as supplied by the customer within the bounds established by the credit policy for the credit line requested
  5. Assembles data and establishes credit files for submission to the Manager of Financial Services/Credit Analysist for review on credit line request and annual reviews on lines > = $7,500
  6. Notifies customer of acceptance or rejection by mail, fax, or phone
  7. Supplies credit experience as requested to other suppliers by mail, fax or phone
  8. Assists the customer and business unit sales representatives regarding credit related issues as needed and within assigned authority
  9. Makes changes to customer master files per request by customer on their letterhead within assigned guidelines
  10. Supply additional information to collection agencies as requested.
  11. Maintains filing of agency reporting
  12. Distributes letters printed in house by collectors through collection letter system, reprinted invoices, and misc. paper work
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by Financial Services Management
  14. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  15. Abides by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company, Inc.
  16. Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice
  17. Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors

 

Marginal Functions

  1. Maintains operational relationship with sales, and other departments concerned with credit related issues
  2. Ability to handle and safeguard highly confidential data pertaining to credit activity
  3. Initiates, develops, and maintains relationships with the company’s customer community
  4. Other duties as assigned
