Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Center and Event Operations, the Event Operations and Administrative Specialist performs varied administrative, technical and analytical duties to provide support for the Student Center, university conferences, events and box office operations. The Event Operations and Administrative Specialist is responsible for providing lead work direction to student assistants and regularly participates in policy research, development, evaluation and analytical reporting of customer satisfaction, workflows, procedures and staff efficiencies, this includes working with the Associate Director to develop and recommend alternatives and best courses of actions for necessary student staffing structure, staffing and budget allocations. The Event Operations and Administrative Specialist is responsible for purchasing supplies and equipment, project coordination and often serves as the program administrator for the unit. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university, and may include dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Key Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, plus two years of related experience. Requires solid computer skills, including at minimum intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Knowledge of Google Suite, scheduling and ticketing software, and Peoplesoft is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,379 to $4,911 monthly a month. This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
