Full Stack Developer Lead - Maps Developer Experience

Job description
Apple Maps is front and center on hundreds of millions of devices, and the Maps Developer Experience team designs, builds and optimizes the build and orchestration systems that power them all. We’re looking for exceptional engineers that live at the intersection of development, operations, data, and systems engineering to build solutions for large-scale continuous data transformation and delivery.
Key Qualifications
- Understanding of developer productivity, its pitfalls, opportunities and caveats.
- Experience with designing, building and maintaining large-scale applications and systems with well defined APIs.
- Familiarity with concepts of ML and specifically LLM in the context of software development and/or support.
- Excellent communication and the ability to articulate design strategies across a variety of audiences.
- Familiarity with concepts of building cloud native applications, Kubernetes and defining hybrid cloud strategies.
- Full Stack development experience.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, knowledge of software languages, particularly Java, JavaScript, Python, or Go.

We build the tools and infrastructure that delivers Apple Maps to users. Success means performance, reliability, visibility, repeatability, and customer satisfaction. Our applications interact with and control complex distributed systems and very large data sets while providing interfaces, processes, and workflows that abstract complexity away for our users. Since we provide core infrastructure solutions for the whole organization, you will have the opportunity to interact with nearly every other Maps Team here at Apple. Our customers are Apple Maps users, but also internal developers, operations teams, and feature owners.
In this role you will be expected to
Be responsible for technical design, development and implementation of software systems critical to the everyday work of software development.
Collaborate with teams internally and externally to maps, working cross-functionally to solve problems and design solutions.
Drive projects independently, leveraging organizational skills and communication to be successful in a fast paced development environment.
Research best solutions for customers and drive said ideas forward in every aspect of the product.
Interact with engineers that are also our customers to debug issues and understand their use cases.
Be involved in all facets of the product from feature planning, system design, implementation to documentation, creating a robust and reliable system that enables software engineers to contribute high quality work.
Ideate the future of developer productivity be it, new systems, tools or LLM
Education & Experience
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
