Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Process Lead to join our team. The GIS Process Lead will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and enhancement of GIS processes and workflows. This is a hybrid role that combines both remote work and occasional on-site presence.
As the GIS Process Lead, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and accurate execution of new or improved workflows as it relates to the GIS technology (Utility Network) and Data Model (UPDM) to be deployed. You will also be involved in leading GIS data testing activities, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support to the GIS team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in GIS processes, data analysis, and utility workflows.
Responsibilities :
- Lead the development, implementation, and improvement of GIS processes and workflows. Coordinate with internal teams to identify GIS process requirements and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and prioritize GIS user requirements across editor, editor-light and viewer users.
- Document GIS process standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Lead workshops with Subject Matter Experts who will define the GIS solutions needed in the new world. This is part of the 30% onsite requirement for this role.
- Organize and design:
- Testing for the super users for A) series of data releases B) series of proof of concepts that will test out new workflows in UN with client data
- The training and support model for the SMEs/Super users
- Micro Learning strategy – regular cadence (bi-annually) of micro-learning videos for the Editor SMEs and their leadership as well as downstream consumers of GIS
- Conduct regular assessments and reviews of GIS processes to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate changes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the Nimble lead to identify new GIS project opportunities and recommend innovative solutions
- Proficiency in data analysis, and data visualization using GIS software
- Experience in implementing and managing GIS processes and workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve GIS-related issues, with a keen eye to detail.
- Ability to lead and supervise a team of superusers, providing clear instructions and feedback.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and facilitate group workshops
- Familiarity with the application of GIS in various industries, such as urban planning, environmental management, or utilities.
- Gas utility (gas distribution and/or gas transmission) familiarity
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, remote work environment.
- Quality control of all deliverables and activities (workshop prep, presentations, workshop notes)
- Track related GIS processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. In addition, have an eye to maximize efficiency across user profiles and multiple GIS viewers.
- Communicates to other team members of workshop outcomes relevant to their work
- Execute on method of reviewing ideas across visioning, efficiencies, non-negotiables with Agile PM/JIRA Lead, Client Manager and Scrum lead
- Lead and mentor a team of GIS analysts and technicians (SMEs) as part of workshop follow-ups.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in GIS process development, implementation, and management.
- Proficient in using GIS software and tools, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms. Preference to those who have worked with UPDM /UN.
- Strong understanding of GIS concepts, spatial data models, and analysis techniques.

Requirements for the Nimble team
- Available to start work in January 2024 (assuming client contract approved by this time ).
- Must be available full-time during client office hours (Pacific time) typically 9am-5pm , with flexibility as needed.
- Must be flexible to be onsite with the project team given the nature of the work
- Work is 70% remote, 30% onsite at client offices (Oakland, San Ramon- California); on average 6 days per month
- Consultant is: already residing in the bay area or lives in CA (W Coast) and willing to travel to be onsite as required below.
