Job description

New Hampshire Public Radio seeks a producer to join its Podcast team, a multi-media team that creates and distributes the weekly podcasts Outside/In and Civics 101 , reporting to the Executive Producer. This is a hybrid eligible role with in - person requirements for fund drives, team meetings and annual all - staff events. A maximum of 100 miles commuting distance is preferred , but other locations will be considered on a case by case basis . Candidates with a love of narrative audio, a fascination with stories related to the environment , public policy/civics , and enthusiasm for digital media are encouraged to apply .

As a producer, you will play an active role in the production process of Outside/In, from researching and pitching story ideas , gathering tape, writing and reporting stories, mixing audio drafts, participating in group edits, creating and posting social media and newsletter content; and participating in marketing efforts such as promotional swaps and feed drops. The position will primarily work with the Outside/In team, with some crossover work on Civics 101

You will support the hosts and other producers in their work, booking guests and assisting with production or post-production work, i.e., transcription, web posts, social media, and audience engagement. This is primarily where your work will cross over with Civics 101, which requires production support with booking, research, audience engagement, and promotional support. 

This position works closely with the Executive Producer of Outside/In, the Director of On-Demand Audio and the rest of the team. As with all content roles at NHPR, you will occasionally collaborate with the local news and broadcast team and participate in station fundraising activities.

This is a full-time , exempt, SAG- Aftra union position, and the salary range for this role is $53,700 - 62,649K annually.

NHPR's Creative Production Unit is the place where innovative ideas percolate, emerging trends flourish, audiences engage, and great audio and journalism meet. The nine-person team of producers and hosts work in parallel - and occasionally collaborate - to create two weekly podcasts: Civics 101 and Outside/In. The teams also create regular segments and specials for NHPR's terrestrial broadcast, as well as engage with audiences on multiple platforms and at in-person events. Our podcast team members are all hybrid and remote employees - while we work closely together, we also work independently. Because our team is small, everyone does a bit of everything.
