Fayetteville-Manlius High School, a Grammy Signature School in one of the Best Communities for Music Education in America, invites applications for a probationary Orchestra/String Teacher, due to retirement. The High School has earned many national and state music awards. Music offerings include three orchestras, three bands, choir, chorale, Studio Music (music theory I), Music Theory II, and AP Music Theory in addition to several extracurricular activities such as chamber orchestra, jazz ensembles, swing, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the yearly musical. 

The orchestra program consists of the following curricular ensembles: String Orchestra (9th grade), Concert Orchestra (10th-12th grade), and a Symphony Orchestra (auditioned 10th-12th grade). All orchestras have opportunities to collaborate with wind players to perform full orchestra repertoire. 

The Fayetteville-Manlius School District is committed to seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to continue the tradition of excellence at Fayetteville-Manlius High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting both the Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra, as well as providing group lessons and chamber ensemble coachings. All of the orchestras perform several concerts each year. Strong conducting and leadership skills required. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct the Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra with a focus on musical excellence and student engagement
• Provide group lessons to students, ensuring individualized attention and skill development
• Coach small chamber ensembles, fostering collaboration and musicianship among students
• Collaborate with other music educators and school staff to support a well-rounded music program
• Plan and organize performances, concerts, and events
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore their musical abilities and creativity
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and upcoming events

Qualifications:

• New York State Teacher certification in Music Education required. 
• Experience conducting high school orchestras and providing string instruction.
• Proficiency in playing and teaching violin, viola, cello, and string bass
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other music educators and school staff.
