The College of Engineering is seeking a Regional Innovation Officer. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

An official offer of employment is not anticipated to be made until the summer of 2024 when the position is funded.

The Regional Innovation Officer ( RIO ) creates and sustains a state, regional, and national leadership market position in microfluidics by leading the Corvallis Microfluidics (CorMic) Tech Hub. CorMic is a regional consortium focused on research development, innovation, and entrepreneurial activities leading to the commercialization of microfluidics technologies, the creation of new companies and overall business development in the Willamette Valley. CorMic also supports workforce development initiatives that strengthen the ecosystem by providing well-trained employees to support a growing microfluidics economy. The RIO will report through the College of Engineering (CoE) to the Associate Dean for Research. The College of Engineering is a place of extraordinary talent and unstoppable drive. The RIO will supervise staff and/or professional faculty to achieve the goals of the directorship. The RIO will contribute to a community that embraces diversity and inclusive practices to foster collaboration and success regardless of social identity or background. The RIO will work collaboratively across the OSU Campus and with leaders across academia, industry, and government to develop, lead, and oversee CorMic. , The Regional Innovation Officer leads all efforts and is advised by the Executive Advisory Board which includes representatives from public and private entities in the State of Oregon. The RIO will support a shared vision amongst consortium members.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires PhD in related field with 6-8 years experience in management responsibilities.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Some evenings and weekends may be required. Occasional travel may be required.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with skills, education and experience.
