Brown & Brown is seeking a Regional Controller to join our expanding team in New Hyde Park, NY!
The Regional Controller works with the Regional Finance Leader to drive profitability within the region as well as ensure timely and accurate reporting of periodic financial results in adherence to GAAP. Provide support and leadership to Accounting Teammates and streamline processes within the Region.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Provide leadership for day-to-day accounting functions within the region. This includes but is not limited to hiring, training and retaining accounting teammates
Set annual goals and performance metrics for key functional Team Leaders (A/R, ICP)
Plan and coordinate all accounting operational functions in accordance with corporate guidelines and GAAP
Manage the consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate financial reporting of consolidated business results
Manage month and quarter end close components and ensure deliverables are submitted in accordance with corporate/regional deadlines
Coordinate and prepare financial data as requested by regional and corporate management.
Coordinate requests and inquiries from internal/external auditors
Assist accounting and client retention teammates in developing a plan to minimize the monthly bad debt. Assign a liaison to help coordinate those activities.
Manage the budget process including but not limited to the annual budget, and quarter LE's as determined necessary
Work closely with the Regional Finance Leader, Regional Operations Teammates and Northeast Regional President to provide financial reporting that will assist in driving profitability within the region
Evaluate the effectiveness of current accounting operational controls and procedures, offering recommendations for improvements identified and implementing those new processes
Provide regular review and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Analyze financial reports and supporting information for errors and unusual variances, follow up on determining the explanations and follow up on any corrective actions
Provide timely assistance and support as needed to other teams within the region
Responsible for team performance metrics
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Minimum education or prior job experience- Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; and three to four years related experience.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Proficient with MS Office.
Exceptional telephone demeanor.
