Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorization for medical procedures and treatments
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assign appropriate medical codes for billing and reimbursement purposes
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve authorization issues
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of authorizations
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a dental or medical office
- Proficient in insurance verification processes and procedures
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding system and medical terminology
- Familiarity with managed care plans and authorization requirements
- Experience with medical coding and billing practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record keeping
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software applications
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws
