Job Summary

The part-time orientation advisor works with Student Orientation and provides support in student navigation of online systems, coordination of welcome events, materials, logistics of the programs, and assisting students with their transition to DMACC. This position will also assist with making necessary referrals to new and current students over all academic programs and advise students in all phases of academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, and articulation agreements.



Essential Functions

Inform and advise prospective and current students in all phases of the orientation process for new students and those changing programs. Field a high volume of student inquiries related to various steps of the orientation and enrollment process. Assist with the coordination, organization, and logistics of on campus new student orientation sessions for students. Perform other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver classroom presentations. Knowledge of current software applications



Desired Qualifications

Experience and commitment to working with diverse student populations. Experience delivering presentations to large groups. Knowledge of various technologies such as learning management systems.
