Description:

The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of surgical oncology and endocrine surgery. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Surgery or eligible for such certification, including subspecialty certification in complex general surgical oncology (CGSO).

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching of medical students and residents.

Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient and operative care of patients with cancer-related disease.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include clinical and/or basic science research in topics related to endocrine and oncologic surgery, as well as participation in clinical trials.

This position will be full-time and based primarily at Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation's oldest and a full partner member of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. It will include administrative duties at Penn's Abramson Cancer Center. Preference will be given to applicants with complex minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) skills in management of hepatopancreatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal malignancies
