Your Opportunity
We are seeking one exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team to work on project sites and live in the vicinity of Sterling (Peetz), CO/ Sidney, NE. This opportunity is ongoing and runs through August 2025. Field work is estimated at 40 hours per week with the possibility for overtime. Applicants will be expected to reside in Sterling, Sidney, or nearby and will be provided a daily meal per diem on field days. Compensation and job perks include:

Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct post-construction mortality surveys for raptors at an operating wind facility.
Perform and document field data collection activities while working independently in the field. Day-to-day work is conducted solo.
Learn and follow standard operating procedures for work assigned, while continuing to develop skills.
Follow strict data collection and reporting protocols.
Using GPS via iPad or iPhone.
Technicians will be required to follow all wind facility-specific and Stantec safety protocols and will be expected to provide their own suitable footwear (6” ankle hiking boots) and weather appropriate field gear. Other job-specific field equipment and protective equipment will be provided, as well as training.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
An interest in ecosystems, natural resource conservation, and the outdoors is essential.
Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day in rough terrain.
Effective communicator and team player.
Organized and capable of following detailed instructions.
Must have the willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work in rural wilderness settings.
Applies logic and technical capabilities to resolve technical issues in an effective manner.
Conscientious, organized, and disciplined.
Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required), and demonstrates use and understanding of these policies and procedures as appropriate to their work.
Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships within their technical team, Business Center, and region.
The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set in multiple environmental disciplines and a passion for lifelong learning.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required. Experience driving 4x4 vehicles, or off-road, preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline preferred, but not required.
Professional and academic background in biology or natural resources preferred, but not required.
Ability to work in dependently.
Previous experience utilizing iPads/iPhones and must be comfortable with computers, tablets, and GPS units.
Ability to identify birds (including raptors) of Colorado is a plus.
Field work will include walking long distances and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs. is required. The successful candidate will be expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Sterling (Peetz), CO/Sidney, NE.

Salary Range(s):
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
