Job description
Senior Scientist I
Kelly Science has an opening for a Senior Scientist I in the Stamford CT area for one of our clients focusing on sustainable chemistry and improving lives while preserving our planet.
Location: Stamford CT
Shift: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Salary: $110,000-$135,000/year
Responsibilities:
Define and execute alumina and industrial mineral processing research programs
Synthesis of new polymers
Design and implement appropriate lab and field tests required to validate and commercialize new products and applications
Develop fundamental and application knowledge for current and new products
Propose new ideas and run the required tests for feasibility assessment
Define and perform industrial scale application trials working collaboratively with project team members and customers
Document and effectively communicate research findings, both internally to research team and upper management, and externally to customers and at conferences
Work collaboratively with peers, project team members, other internal departments (R&I synthesis, Analytical, Manufacturing, Commercial & Sales), and customers to achieve innovation targets
Identify opportunities for IP protection, and provide support for patent applications or new product registration
Stay up-to-date with technical literature, industry and technology trends. Participate in strategic professional conferences and present papers
Requirements:
PhD in Organic Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry.
A minimum of 6-8 years’ R&D experience in industry setting is required.
Hands-on laboratory experiences in organic synthesis are required. Experiences and knowledge about the synthesis of organosulfur compounds or organophosphorus compounds are a plus.
Good knowledge in one or more of the following areas is preferred: organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, water soluble polymers, surfactant chemistry
Capacity to innovate and curiosity towards chemical technologies & products
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of experimental design, statistics and data analysis is considered a plus
Ability to teach and coach peers in novel methodologies is desirable.
