SMHCS opened a Radiation Oncology Center with two linear accelerators in September 2020 and a new 110-bed acute-care hospital, SMH-Venice , in November 2021.

The Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute also had its grand opening in November 2021. The new Oncology Tower is a 170,000 sq ft building that includes 56 private suites for hospitalized cancer patients, nine (9) state of the art operating rooms with a dedicated robotic surgery suite and integrative care services offering patient navigation and family/caregiver support. A new Outpatient Cancer Pavilion is under construction and will open in 2025 with additional radiation oncology, surgical oncology and medical oncology capabilities to facilitate effective multidisciplinary care.

Highlights of the Opportunity:

• We are seeking a Fellowship trained Head & Neck Surgeon with training in Microvascular Surgery and Endoscopic Endonasal Skull Base Surgery to join an established Head & Neck and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgeon.
• Rapidly growing Head & Neck Oncology Program with over 1250 patient visits and 300 surgical cases within the first year of establishing the practice.
• Only Head & Neck Oncology Practice within 50 miles
• Dedicated Multidisciplinary Head & Neck Cancer Tumor Board that meets 3 times per month
• Established enhanced recovery after surgery protocols for Transoral Robotic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction
• Opportunity to develop a Skull Base Surgery program with Neurosurgery at the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute at Sarasota Memorial Hospital
• State-of-the-art resources and support for high-volume head and neck surgical oncology practices
• Opportunities to develop research and educational/training programs with Cancer Center support
• Work collaboratively with oncology leadership to develop the premier multidisciplinary head and neck cancer center in the region.

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine
• Completion of a Head & Neck Surgical Fellowship Program
• Board Eligible or Board Certified
• Qualified candidates must have an active and unrestricted license in Florida. 
• Experience preferred.
