WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS JOB


An Optometric Technician is the Optometrist's assistant. Optometric Technician help with exams, use simple diagnostics, and educate customers on the products they have been prescribed. Often times, an Op Tech will also maintain and create schedules, assist in frame selection, and clean sophisticated ocular equipment. The Optometric Technician role works closely with the Optometrist, which means it's one of the best places to continue to learn.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Carrying out diagnostic tests

  • Completing necessary documentation

  • Preparing patients to be seen by the Optometrist

  • Helping the front office with various tasks

  • Assisting the patient in making decisions about frames and lenses

  • Educating the patient in contact lens care

  • Providing assistance to the Optometrist as they are completing eye exams

QUALIFICATIONS


PREFERRED SKILLS FOR OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN


  • Great customer service and the ability to connect well with patients

  • Works well within a team

  • Willing to go above and beyond for the good of the office and patient

  • Ability to communicate well in English

  • Tech-savvy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN

Required: 


  • High School diploma

Preferred: 


  • A strong work history in customer service and ideally the Optical industry
