Job description
This is an opportunity to be on the ground floor of a large-scale digital transformation. The person in this role will work with a well-known leader in the home appliance industry while enhancing their experience by working on the cutting edge of Controls Engineering.
Responsibilities will include
Develop, manage, and execute automation and controls projects, including new, replacement, and improvement of existing systems
Periodic day-to-day support of manufacturing and facility electrical systems and networks
Utilize best practices, industrial standards, and common systems to support the overall competitive manufacturing initiative
Participate in functional area plant meetings and related activities representing the engineering team and to assist in improving the plant's performance goals
Provide technical support, direction, and training to engineering and support personnel/skilled trades within the organization
Investigate systems and equipment problems and provide technical assistance in problem resolution
Develop cost estimates, investment forecast, business cases, appropriation requests, and plans for project activity
Utilize statistical methods for continuous improvement on manufacturing systems and processes
Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for ergonomics, health/safety and housekeeping
Maintain good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, management, supplier community, and interface with necessary support functions inside and outside the plant
Coordinate and communicate the development of changes to improve conditions for the fabrication, finish, assembly, and support processes
Ensure long-term, cost-effective lifecycle for manufacturing and facility systems at the lowest operating costs possible (maximum throughput, energy efficiency, etc)
Minimum Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology. Associate's Degree with commensurate experience will also work
Must be able to demonstrate applied experience developing PLC applications in a manufacturing environment as well as HMI development
Exposure to robotics and/or mechanical presses
Applied knowledge of machine safety: Light curtains, area scanners, safety monitoring, safety PLCs
Recent proven experience as an individual contributor in:
Manufacturing solution development, design, and implementation
Manufacturing problem solving and troubleshooting
Nice-to-Have Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
Robotic experience: Yasikawa/Motoman, FANUC
Ethernet I/P controls networks
Vision Systems
C/C++ Programming
SQL database systems including queries and analysis
