Job Summary
- This position is the administrative support for the Lenexa/Lawrence Manpower Team. The Manpower Team assigns, oversees, and supports, union field personnel and coordinates with project managers.
- This position contributes to the success of the company by providing prompt responses to phone calls, emails, and text messages from the Manpower Team and from field staff and removing “roadblocks.”
- The work schedule for this position is generally 7:00am – 4:00pm or 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday thru Friday. (Regularly scheduled remote work is not available for approximately a year due to training. This remote work option would be evaluated after this time frame, but there is no guarantee that this option would be available.)
- Occasional travel to our Lawrence, KS office.
Responsibilities and Duties
When necessary, additional duties may be assigned, and P1 expects the position holder to exercise initiative to anticipate and prevent problems.
- Arranges the hiring process by sending Manpower requests to unions and sending hire notifications to HR.
- Coordinates layoffs/termination process with documentation and arranging delivery of final paychecks.
- Resolves problem/missing timecards.
- Assists with management of wage rate documentation, verifying, tracking, and resolving discrepancies.
- Updates Manpower Board with current projects and staffing assignments, publish weekly manpower assignment report.
- Facilitates Monthly Manpower Projection Process: obtain projects from project managers, consolidate into projection summary report for Manpower Team.
- Obtains Intercompany Job Numbers and provide to service personnel, facilitate weekly intercompany billing review process.
- Manages field communication, including processes for Foremen Meetings, Foremen Evaluations, and Apprentice Evaluations.
- Provides general administrative support for the Manpower Team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree or other higher level of education is preferred but not required.
- Experience: At least 4 years of full-time administrative/clerical or other office support type of work experience in the construction industry is required.
- Preferred: Union related knowledge.
- Proficient in intermediate level math skills.
- Computer Skills: Intermediate level skills for email, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation applications: specifically, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Windows); willing to learn new software applications.
- Customer Service: Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
- Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills
- Works well in a fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Works well independently and without much direct supervision, uses time efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Good reasoning ability and be able to quickly problem solve and resolve issues.
- Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to meet P1 qualifications to operate a vehicle on company business. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Must have access to a well-maintained vehicle with an up to date registration with the local Department of Motor Vehicles. Both the individual and the vehicle must be currently covered on a personal insurance policy.
