Job description
The D498 Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising a group of approximately 8-10 engineers, that are responsible for the detail design maintenance, analysis, operational and shock qualification, ship integration, material procurement support, and test and life cycle support of Columbia Class build-to-print mechanical components and systems. Additional duties for the supervisor will include employee development, upholding the technical quality of the products under their cognizance, and maintaining the cost and schedule performance of their disclosures and products. This supervisor will work closely with their Mechanical Design Supervisor counterparts to jointly plan and execute the work for disclosure changes. This supervisor will also need to work with the Materials Management organization to support and resolve issues with material procurement and provide support and oversight of suppliers building parts and components on Mechanical build-to-print design disclosures.
ResponsibilitiesThis position requires a strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and components and the ability to work with D453 mechanical design in the detail development of build to print disclosure changes. Applicant must possess excellent communication, project management and presentation skills since they will be required to effectively interface with other engineering disciplines, NAVSEA program and technical codes, operations, Ship's management, HI-NNS and the fleet. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Knowledge of the Earned Value Management System is desired. Applicant must be able to provide examples of behavior that demonstrate commitment to EBs core values.

Experience working with Electric Boat D453 Mechanical Design with developing design disclosures using the current IPDE tools and processes is desired.
Understanding of the Electric Boat Mechanical process for developing build-to-print design disclosures is desired.
