Job Title: IT Financial Controller
Location: Remote (mostly PST hours)
Duration: 1 year +
Position Overview: The IT Financial Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial and administrative aspects of our IT projects. This role will involve monitoring project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, project management experience, and a solid understanding of IT finance principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Develop and maintain project budgets in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.
- Monitor project expenses, including labor costs, procurement expenses, and external vendor fees.
- Track project financial performance against budget targets and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Cost Control and Forecasting:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements to optimize project expenditures.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify deviations from budgeted costs and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare financial forecasts and projections to anticipate future project expenses and resource requirements.
Resource Management:
- Coordinate with project managers to allocate resources effectively and ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.
- Track resource utilization and capacity to identify potential bottlenecks or overages and propose solutions to optimize resource allocation.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate regular financial reports, dashboards, and metrics to provide insights into project financial performance.
- Analyze project financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports to support decision-making by senior management and project stakeholders.
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, reports, and evidence of financial controls and governance.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with project managers, finance teams, procurement specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of financial goals and objectives.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to provide updates on project financial status, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM, CFA) is a plus.
- 10 years of experience in financial management, project accounting, or IT project control, preferably in a technology or IT environment.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other financial modeling tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
