POSITION TITLE: Training Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY: The Training Specialist is a full-time position within the HeadQuarters Kansas Suicide Prevention Center. The Suicide Prevention Center is responsible for the delivery of a variety of suicide prevention and postvention programs serving the entire state of Kansas. The Training Specialist reports directly to the VP of Policy & Prevention, and will work closely with program coordinators to develop, deliver and keep up to date a variety of training products. This position will combine the qualities of subject matter expertise in evidence-based approaches to suicide prevention, creativity in design, and flexibility to meet the needs of adult learners. In addition to training design, the Training Specialist will deliver suicide prevention training in a variety of modalities including in-person, live-virtual and recorded modules. The Training Specialist will also provide consultation and support to teams working on implementing systems approaches to suicide prevention such as the Zero Suicide Framework for healthcare settings.
TRAVEL: Up to 25% in-state travel
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Maintain system for tracking current presentation and training offerings including last update, frequency of presentation and any relevant costs associated with delivery;
- Utilize LMS (LearnUpon) and other training software (e.g. PPT and Articulate Rise 360) to create dynamic training presentations;
- In collaboration with team members stay up to date with current suicide data, statistics and trends with the primary goal to keep all materials as up to date as possible;
- Engage in consultation with parties interested in implementing suicide prevention strategies such as Zero Suicide;
- Research and develop implementation support tools for suicide prevention strategies;
- Create training promotional materials and lead training opportunity promotion in collaboration with program coordinators and communications teams;
- And other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS - Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or other relevant program;
- 1-2 years experience in the behavioral health or human services field;
- Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources;
- Quality written and verbal communication skills for the purpose of activity documentation and effective communication with colleagues;
- Experience developing high quality visual layout and graphic design of presentations;
- Eager learner with ability to conduct thoughtful analysis of the quality and reliability of information and data;
- Effective strategies for managing compassion fatigue and symptoms of burnout, along with a willingness to seek supervision and support from the organization;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products especially PowerPoint;
- Proficiency in English language skills, written and oral;
- Must pass State & Federal criminal background checks;
- Must have a valid Drivers’ License and clean driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS - Masters’ Degree in relevant field;
- Familiarity with Zero Suicide Framework;
- Completion of internal HeadQuarters Kansas counselor training and/or other suicide prevention competencies.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Job Type: Full Time, Exempt, Salaried
- $42,000-54,000/year
