Job description

JeffCare is a Federally Qualified Health Center offering primary care and behavioral health from two sites in Metairie and Marrero. It’s a program of Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority. This position is located in the greater New Orleans metropolitan area in Marrero, LA.

Responsibilities
- Determine primary/secondary insurance carriers and verify benefit coverage and ensure data is entered.
- Collect and input insurance information into the electronic health record system.
- Follow up with insurance companies to ensure accuracy of information as needed.
- Calculate patient liability amount due on date of service.
- Inform the patient of disclosures concerning out of network providers and insurances.
- Ensure all contact with patients is recorded in the electronic health record system.
- Observe patient confidentiality at all times and adheres to all HIPPA guidelines.
- Stay compliant with all financial policies and procedures of the department and facility.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients regarding insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Resolve discrepancies in insurance information.
Qualifications & Skills
- One year of experience in insurance verification preferred
- One year of experience in medical billing preferred
- Respectful and cooperative work style
- Excellent communication skills
- Careful attention to detail and accuracy
