APRN: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. PA: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and or specialty medical care (the practice of medicine) in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions the collaboration agreement of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730) performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patient’s current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries. This medical care may be in a variety of clinical settings. PA’s are privileged by the Board of Governors. PA’s in the Hospital care role provide outpatient and/or hospital based care to patients (more than 50% of their time) with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions. Outpatient/Hospital care PA’s practice in a setting that requires the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to manage acute and chronic health problems. Must have the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.

Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for their observation patient population. Successful candidate will be an active participant is developing processes for opening a specialized unit for observation patients. Provider will be involved in the ground up process, including leadership meetings with teams across the Cleveland Clinic.

Observation patients are not fully admitted to the hospital, and are expected to be discharged within 24 hours. The Provider in this role is to facilitate the process from admission to discharge within those 24 hrs.

The position involves managing patients with multiple diagnoses but not limited to chest pain, TIA/stroke rule out, headache, syncope, abdominal pain, chronic pain exacerbation, hyperglycemia, anemia, GU bleeds, and cellulitis.

This role requires strong communication skills to engage all caregivers from technicians, nursing, physicians and patients and their families.

Monday-Friday 8hr shifts, 8am-4pm. No Weekends/Call/Nights

Preferred candidates will have at least 1 year of full-time APP clinical experience.
